So the big day happened, and will soon be forgotten as the thousands obediently return to work. A few more fortunate, may have several days off; but most I talked to will be back at work. How many will think about American freedom? Ah but we are a tourist state, and this is SUMMER. The NM musicians will play as often as possible and may even do a couple of road trips.

In Santa Fe, down at the plaza, the cleanup crew will work diligently leaving no trace of the pancake breakfast and then, in late afternoon the bands will set up for the evening’s concert.
Last Friday, on SF native was perusing the Pasitempo, for the schedule of everyone playing this week. He was almost drooling, as he mentioned, these are all New Mexican bands. He knew, had grown up with many of the players.

I do know, at the same hours and into the morning jazz will be buzzing and burning in several of the bars. Just yesterday I encouraged a friend to go out again: there’s no smoke I reminded him. Just buy a drink and enjoy. He hesitated, about to say he doesn’t drink anymore when I said, “You can always get a virgin Mary.

Now Albuquerque is a big city and you may need to travel in groups, but they will have the evening jivving all across town. For the next generation, the weekend often starts on Thursday night. I wonder if that is still true, now that they are a little older. Employment changes so many lifestyles.

The kids though will be rocking, hip hop loving, and alternative wherever the music is playing. And the retired folk, may show up just about anywhere because afterall they know the scene and have the time to travel or go out whenever they feel the urge.
