HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

As we sit down to eat,
count the freedoms we have,
count what you’ve done to protect those freedoms,
remember the Indians who helped colonies survive
send them thank-you letters.

How can you help starving people today.
Sometimes they live only around the corner.

Be thankful for the freedom to pray out loud
for every religion,
bless the farmers who grew out food.
Bless the bird who sacrificed its life.
Bless everyone who helped prepare the feast.

Eat and nuture yourself. Be glad.
I send my blessings to you.

FRIDAY called BLACK FRIDAY is also a great day to participate in no buy spend no money day. It was started by Canadians and now is an American event too. It lets us reflect on our consumer spend spendmentality/addiction. I confess that on Friday I will buy food at work since I get paid on Friday. What would your day be like if for one day during the National Shop marathon, you didn’t spend a dime? Got other stuff to do?

Some people are expanding their efforts to spend one hour without using any electricity, etc. Perhaps use candle light, read, rest, walk…make your own list. Play a card game? Experience silence? Be more radical and turn off every TV (and computer) in the house for 4 hours. Make cards for gifts. This is a simple explanation of people’s hesitating to consider their holy ritual (not) of shopping ….you can do more research, or go to ksfr.com and see if you can find a podcast of Diego Mulligan’s talk this week. Probably on Tuesday.

Praise be to those who volunteer and help out people all over! Thank-you.

For adults…

Unconventional views during Thanksgiving.

Thanks!
