New Mexicans Celebrate: A new blog for YOU. By me.
It’s summertime and music in the city is abundant! varied, and exciting. Plus there’s a whole lot of other venues for entertainment, guests and friends. I was perusing the Alibi newspaper and found an enormous amount of listings and information plus some very strange short short stories. In future blogs, and you can visit me DAILY (Monday thru Friday) I will include more information on events. I can tell you this right now 1) Prepare a weekly budget 2) There’s events all week long and all summer long 3) Tickets start as low as $8.00 (less sometimes for kids and seniors).
Thus a family could bring food, the kids, grandma and grandpa for less than $32 and the parents for another $16. You can enjoy the night air, good tunes, the Botanical Garden or the Zoo and have a family outing. What a deal.
So go to http://www.alibi.com or pick up the free paper at your local newstand. If you go to their sight, you can also list a free 3 line classified. Sell something to make the budget bigger and better.
Want to use your music budget to support some of your favorite non-profits? Look at these fun concerts. Global Music Sampler, tickets $15 Sat June 23 7:30 PM Lobo Theater. contact:

Wednesday, JUNE 26, 6PM a fundraiser for the Bio Park Society, tickets $28: At the RIO GRANDE ZOO listen to the famous RICKY SKAGGS and Kentucky Thunder. So this is a special date gig, it’ll be worth it to hear the music and see all the animals (before the music of course).
On Sunday June 17th you have three places that you probably can’t be at once. At 7:30 PM Telsa’s Classic Rock Hits at the Kiva auditorium. Chamber Music at the Simm’s Center Alb Academy 4PM and the annual College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe at the quad: Daddy’s Blue Fest: 2-6PM. Visit www.nmjazz.org (plus you’ll get a heads up on the up-coming jazz festival)!
Oh yes, grab a copy of NM Kids and see all the programs available in June: there’s no reason for anyone to be bored this summer. Scholarships are often available. Plus there are some free days too.
Get out to play and dance. If you do it right you could easily be out on the town 2-3 times a week. More to come. See you on Monday.
