I arrived early at the SF Brewing CO, www.santafebrewingcompany.com, got permission to be a guest press person, bought a delicious dinner, and eanjoyed watching them set up. At one point Dave Delvin sat nearby and played his mandolin. Casual, no smoke environment and I enjoyed so much of the behind the scenes….
The band does a few songs for warmup and testing the system.
Time slows down almost stops a quiet anticipation: I already know how powerful the violinist is. One young girl, swishes her violet skirt, the air is still:
Amanda, the youngest performer this evening picks up her guitar, does a short introduction and practically steals the show….”my soul is slipping away….don’t know which way to go…”
More on the Youngstars, in another blog.
A little later, the tall, blonde, and charasmatic LISA CARMAN, appears suddenly walking and singing down the stairs. Electric energy passes through the audience and the band kicks in. “If I can count on you, you can count me in”…Listen to her new CD: treasures and trash at www.lisajcarman.com Of course this blog would be a lot nicer with the music playing, which you could do by pressing the previous link.
Lisa’s music crosses styles including rock and roll, country rock and jazz. Sometimes one song can seem to embody all three modalities at once. She can make you swoon, like listening to old time blues or have you up and dancing fast and hard. The band is fabulous and incredibly talented. Studio time must have created a dynamic flow of energy. Somehow each musician could stand alone within the context of a group.
We have here many stars shining together to play very complex music with such ease that it flows like a rushing river. The show caught everyone in the red dress spell and then Lisa invites Bill Kearne to play too. Consciousness soared and the audience loved it.
The performance truly encompassed a party to celebrate and play with intensity and joy: the new CD is out and look at what you play with the new Trash and Treasures CD.
So my bi-line: support our local musicans: Buy their CD’s, and you can also help set up more gigs for them. Lisa Carman and her group is very HOT!
