JINGA and KSFR?

by

I went out to dinner with my 78 yr old pal Pat tonight. Although we only saw each other yesterday we had lots to talk about. We are practically a gossip and news review team. Our dilema at first was to get somewhere in record time because my banking errand had taken too long and she had to be back to go to work a little earlier. I gave her 4 restaurants to choose from. We chose Jinga’s Thai restaurant on the north side of town, just beyond the deVargas MAll. That’s JINGA”S thai restaurant. We were seated promptly, and I explained to the waiter that we were a bit of a rush….

So we were gabbing away and we both “splurged”: meaning we were not concerned with eating a meal for $10 or less. She had a shrimp special that was huge with a variety of vegetables, fruit, and shrimp and an ample portion of rice with a slight coconut flavor.

She almost cleaned her plate. All for $15.

I had a fried calamari small plate ($7.95) which had 2 kinds of calamari: the squid whole kind and the ring kind. I ordered a side salad $3.95. It was a rather large bowl with mixed greens, spinach, a spicy sesame oil “sauce” and a variety of other veggies. I was delighted by the nuances of sauces and textures. The flavors were superb too.

The water a handsome, suave, young man was par excellente. I said to Pat, I’ve got to add more to his tip. It is rare that we get such perfecto service! She laughed, because we can be really picky.

So what work did Pat have to do tonight. She walks a dog 2X a day, and now helps an elderly lady in her nineties be sure to take the correct meds. I laughed because who would of thought she’d still be working: she’ll be 89 in 6 weeks. She reports,”I believe this is what keeps me going! This and the pool/swimming. Of course the cash helps too.

KSFR? KSFR is our local public Radio station. After dropping Pat off at work, I drove home enjoying Santa Fe twilight and llistening to Monday night blues and rhythm. Except tonight, the dj set up most of his show around war and dropping of the Atomic bomb on hiroshima and nagawski. 1946(7)? He found a lot of old songs and progressed with more protest songs and anti-nuke songs. It was a mind blowing experience to hear (again) many of these old tunes.

Timely too with too many people talking new bombs (USA govt), and new nuclear power plants the inefficient and very costly, and big health hazard energy producer. Some governments love to be self and earth destructive.

However, in listening to these songs, I took a moment to reflect on what it must have been like in Japan on that day. Please imagine what it was like. Imagine if your town or city were hit and the terror you’d experience, and the burning and melting of your flesh. So many people gone, more to die, and more to suffer. In minutes.

Stop. Imagine it were you and your community. I now pray with you giving thanks that we were not there. I pray giving thanks for wise leadership of all countries who have refrained from using the bomb again. I pray too that the USA stop plans for new bomb testing. I pray that we live another 60 years without escalatation. Perhaps somehow we could gather together and build peace instead. I give thanks to God for sending angels to surround us. I send love to the Japanese surviviors who have dedicated their lives to sharing their stories. I prayer we do not forget what fear, anger, and hate can induce.

No military target was hit that day. Most killed were innocent citizens, mothers and children. I pray for their souls and the anguish of those left behind. I pray for our souls and peace. Thanks, So it is.

The international peace day events were a great honoring of all the childrens prayers. Open your hearts and feel their everflowing love.
