Tortilla Heaven at the Guild this weekend
Tortilla Heaven, filmed in Dixon and Picuris, New Mexico, premiered last night. It’s a story of greed and redemption, reality and fantasy, doubt and faith, that is based on what happens to a small northern New Mexico town when a holy apparition appears on a tortilla made in the town’s only restaurant. Things go mostly downhill from there. The film is no Milagro Beanfield War, but the fact that is was made at all is a miracle. After being rejected in Hollywood because of their vision to use all Latino and Native American talent, They came to northern New Mexico with only a dream. It was a journey of over seven years and the people of Dixon and Picuris helped make it all possible. So, while we couldn’t quite give it two thumbs up, we think they deserve all our support. Buy a ticket to the Guild this weekend and see it for yourself.
