Espiritu…terrific lunch
Are you hungry? Got a good special treat budget? Hop in the car and drive down St Michaels, turn in where K-Mart and Furrs are and go diagonally through the parking lot and you’ll find Espiritu: in the way only Santa fe would have gourmet pizza and exotic Italian Food.
My friend S had a coupon buy one get one free. I wasn’t in the mood for pizza and ordered the Vegetarian Lasagne special for $10.95…a bit much for my usual lunch budget. S ordered a pesto fetucci which was very green and twice the price.
This is Italian, and the portions were more than ample. I thought I’d have enough for a second meal, but the pasta was so lite, and the spinach, mushroom, plus filling mingled perfectly with a light pasta noodle. The incredible seemingly fresh tomato sauce, extra fresh parmesian cheese, and a sprinkle of salt filled the heart and stomach. Yes I also loved the fresh french? bread with olive oil. S was happy with her pesto pasta. Good conversation. Art by Gary Larson gone realistic sort of. Leisurley meal after the lunch rush. Exquisite.
The pizzas are terrific too, and beware of the desserts (which today I declined). The setting is that of a fancy restaurant.
Espiritu’s owner is also a generous contributor to local charities. Volunteer at KSFR’s fundraiser in the next couple of weeks, and you may get to sample some of their cuisine. But hey, it’s easier just to drive on over, spend a little extra and feel pampered Santa Fe style.
