Creative Thinking and healing to you all!

Creative Thinking and healing to you all!

Is World Peace Possible? This is dedicated to Dr. Daniel Cobb, D.O.M. for his generous spirit and creative thinking. Thank you. I also dedicate this to Haysen Weir, massage therapist for her determination and willingness to persevere. You will reach your goals. Thanks. Mary

——————————————————————————–
Blessings everyone. Gratitude is the core of Thanksgiving. In these turbulent times, I think we all have a lot to share, providing support to all we meet and those we care for. So while working on my squidoo pages today, I decided to send this out. May you all have grand holy days. Also, join my campaign to send this movie, and blog if you wish, to a million or more friends! Thanks.

May You Be Blessed is a movie by J Novak

This is a movie I wish to share with the world. Ms Novak is wondrously kind to create this as a reminder of….watch the movie. Also for more information, you can go to www.simpletruths.com (Inspiring site)

Stress busters now available! Photo by Mary MacIntyre

Stress busters now available! Photo by Mary MacIntyre

This is a lovely time of year to hike, or walk and then get some soup full of veggies. Tonight I went to Applebee’s Restaurant with a friend. Their $2.49 salad was big and good! I added garlic baked potatoes, and onion rings…a bit of over indulge and I loved it. We all have our personal ways to reduce stress. Eating too much may not really solve any of my issues. Having dinner with a friend: wonderful. You could substitute Applebee’s for a potluck dinner and…. Anyway, recently I’ve mentioned Haysen Weir’s new book. I’ve copied her squidoo page: www.squidoo.com/esalen If you need more ways to relax and help you and partner or friend really relax and be ready for the more of the world’s challenges, then just buy the book. It’s a great style and would be a great holiday gift for family and friends. I don’t make a penny off this, this my easy way to provide a review.

The following is written and published by Haysen Weir:
With the economy the way it is today and the levels of stress that were all feeling from working so hard or not working at all, having the aches and pains in our bodies, and most of us not being able to afford health insurance. It’s wonder how we can keep going. Well I have a vision. I would like to see everyone taking care of themselves by releasing stress and being pain free from the everyday rat race. I’m going to share with you something that is so easy your grandmother could do it. It’s learning how to listen to your body through massage and have fun. A step by step guide showing you through a series of pictures the Esalen techniques. Some of you are asking me. What is Esalen massage? I’ll tell you. Esalen Massage is a slow, flowing, stroke-massage that opens the sense of ease in a person. Esalen Massage also employs passive joint movements to enable sense of body space. A sense of body space is defined as a holistic versus an allopathic method of self-expansion. Esalen Massage specifically focuses on the body as a whole, rather than just one part of the body. This is the main difference from receiving a Swedish massage versus an Esalen Massage.

For example, a long flowing stroke starting from the hand to the back of the neck and then coming back down to the arm and completing at the hand is done in one flowing motion. It establishes the connection from the hand to the head, with each procedure cascading to establish total connection.

The person who is giving an Esalen massage is moving his/her body like the ocean in nature’s way of continuing flowing and ebbing of the tide. This is what gives the sense of expansion to the one who is receiving the massage. It is imperative that the person giving the massage stays focused to the continued flowing of motion in their own body and the flowing and sensing with the hands.

Esalen Massage facilitates the releasing of letting go, allowing drifting even deeper into a state of relaxation where you can experience your definition of NIRVANA. Now that you know.Check it out!

Love tomatoes? Want some pro tips about growing them?

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

This was perfect timing! I just came in from a long planting session. After two friends took me to lunch, and then I did an errand for me and a friend at Natutral Grocers, I went plant shopping. Home Depot had some flowers on sale. Hence I expanded my purchase 4 fold but only spent twice as much. As I had lost several plants these last few weeks wind and heat may have been the culprit, though I am not sure, I sought out some replacements and some new varieties. Home depot had some of each, and a better selection than recent visits.

I got done planting about 10:10 PM. The wind managed to blow away two sets of rain clouds this evening. I had hoped that these new plants would get their beloved ioned rainfall. So When the stars replaced the clouds, I took my trusty hose and watered away.

Chuck Bartok may not be growing tomatoes in NM, but he has a long history of growing tomatoes. His video is fun and has many parts. It is really worth watching, and tell your friends. I have four tomatoe plants. Two are tall organic golden cherry or maybe plum tomatoes. One has 2 small oval shaped fruits. The other two smaller plant are some variety of red tomato. Maybe a big boy. My production hasn’t ever come near to Chuck’s production.

Check out the video. Your plants will thank you. He has lots of good tips.

The afternoon grew mild, wet streets dried, and I set off to get some outside work done. I took my time and was making great progress. I got to the grocery store where I work PT, as I turned the corner a blast of wind very cold wind hit me. Downtown there had bee magical gray soft clouds almost lie fog covering the mountain, the hills, the distance. It was warm, almost mystical. The cold blast was so fierce I laughed and entered the store. I took my time and when I left the snow and wind were creating almost a white out. I enjoyed how the wind twisted around the corner casting a wispy snake of snow down the street: imagine a 15 foot long white snake slithering over the asphalt. I had 3 more things to do, and I decide to drop one. Huddled I used my cane to avoid an ice slick fall and went to shop in Target. By the time I had found all items on my list, two or more inches of snow had fallen. The parking lot was snow slush hardened ice. I still had to go to fairly heavy traffic on icy roads to the gas station. I crept along to the aggravation of those behind me.

The lights changed and four times in a row I was able to easily maneiveir across several lanes as if the traffic diasppeared when I need to turn, pass an intersection, etc. My reward was a reeses candy bar for free at the gas station. I took my groceries in the house and the shovel out with me. Clreared the path, got my other bag and appreciated the cats, the warmth and conversation with my roommate, plus a piece of cherry pie.

The clean crisp air, the snow covered grasses and bushed, the clouds breaking creating white and gray abstract dance upon black sky: breathtaking. New Mexico storms can be intense and always evoke the power and wonder of nature. Ah-h-h.

Weekend news and a few fun local reminders!

img_4170.JPG

Take a moment to give a prayer for peace. Try another for social justice. Add 45 more for saving the earth. (Remember in WWII, when scarity of commodities was rampart and gas was rationed, familieis were encouraged to create victory gardens. When we grow our own food, we will seldom be hungry. My father was young during the depression and would tell how hard it was. One day I said, “But you had a cow, and chickens, and a garden, did you ever go hungry?” There was silence and he never told another story. His father had work too, and they owned their own house and several properties, plus land. Times were still hard, yes, but he was far better off than most of his neighbors. Plus he had a violin that he played.

I know the power of a garden, our childhood gardens were bountiful. Ditto with a few of my adult ones. If you are in the city you can grow things on decks and windows and support community gardens and farmers markets. We need to support our farmers and create healthy soil.

Back to normal broadcasting:
It’s the weekend with much about town going on. I will do several blogs covering differnt finds that you may enjoy. Be sure to go to the end of this blog and see some unexpected listings.

So click what? Start by clicking on photos by Mary MacIntyre. Often the enlarged version will show many more details. Tonight’s photos have little connection. Pat is still working on connecting her story to photos. Her biggest problem is that all of a sudden she has more work than is comfortable, plus catsitting a friend’s cat and being an all around helper for her friend who just underwent hip replacement surgery. She’s a little gimpy and grumpy. I just roll my eyes, am glad she has a car to use for awhile, and had a great time with our drive up the mountain. We went out to eat at Santa Fe Baking Company. Food was OK and I ate too much. Got sleepy and have been dragging myself to do some work. Not easy and I have to be up early tomorrow morning to start a very long week! Smile, no need to be grumpy, there will be benefits along the way.

The latest refrain lately is that I can pass as a senior! I take the discounts, I reuse to die my hair, and I guess I’d better start using some cremes and things. Yeck. I probably won’t u se most of the cremes as they produce varying degrees of allergic or toxic reactions (and these are the healthy ones!) As the road seems a steep slope toward being older and older, I just want to say wait! Not yet!. I always used to look younger tha I was: oh well desert air has it’s sirens too.

So in the spirit of feeling a bit older than I am: Music:

As most of you know, I am a blogger and a photographer. Like many I am juggling many jobs and wearing a few more hats. Ideally I want to create enough income to give up one part time job and work independently full time. I believe, indirectly this will also contribute to sustainable living. I will drive less (saving gas and keeping my old paid for car on the road longer). I will make more art. My health expenses will decrease due to less stress. I will need to buy less. Part of this is sweet dreaming.

I want to earn more. It’d be nice to afford a hybrid, or a diesel fueled car that can use bio-diesel. I love to shop at thrift stores where I save money and my money goes to support good causes. Still I would be even happier as I improve my living. (oops inserted the note from Chuck before the story! Read on to make sense of it)

This may seem odd, my including a personal email. However, Chuck would love hearing from you too! If you can use a mentor, wish to have ways to keep your mind and mood up and improving (sign up for his podcasts or newsletters)…this man is for real (and still a marketer).

Not long ago, I received an email from www.simpletruths.com

They sent a video with the following story: short version: guy hears a story about letting friends, or important people in your life, know that they have made a difference in your life. So guy goes and writes a letter to his 8th grade teacher. She’s now old in her 80’s, living alone and most of her family and friends have died. (The video is better) She writes back thanking him for the letter because he’s the first student to have ever written her!

So I send the video and a small note to my friends list. I remind them that they have each made a difference in my life (on so many occassions!). I get a reply back, from someone I rarely see and still love about how that note made a special difference to her on “that” day.

Life is short, I suggest you do something similar too. Now this morning I received an e-mail from another friend who has been helping me learn internet marketing. I’ve been busy oh so busy! and haven’t been able to do a lot on my businesses online. He had a great idea for me, which expanded what I had been thinking about! My heart filled with joy at his consideration!
This guy, Chuck Bartok, is far busier than I! Here are a few links to see what he is about.

Chuck’s note above.

All this reminds me that as the weather gets colder, days darker, and holidays roll round: many people feel stressed, somewhat blue, and may need a few mental boosts/pick me ups. One thing I do is have several sources of positive thinking/well being/spiritual news sources, newsletters, etc. Here’s one worth reading: Published monthly for The Science of Being Well Network
