Jan Jenell and the Silk Painters Trunk Show
Join Jan Jenell, maker of one of a kind hand bags, garments and whimsical fashion greeting cards, as she shares her latest creations just in time for the holidays. With her is the Silk Painters Association, providing wonderful accessories to make that perfect fashion statement. While you’re in the area, head up Highway 165 to Placitas for the annual Placitas Holiday Sale, 10-5 Saturday and Sunday.

Ride the Trolley to Old Town Artscrawl Tonight
The City has rolled out the trolley especially for tonight’s Artscrawl in Old Town and along Mountain Road. There will be artist receptions, open houses, luminarias, music and refreshments. Part of the evening’s festivities will be the Push Pin and Roll it Forward interactive art show at OFFCenter. For all the details, go to their website.

Silent Auction and Art Exchange at AC2
The work of over 20 participating artists will be available with a broad range of mediums and styles: paintings, prints, mixed media, photography, and jewelry. Bidding for the auction will begin at 6pm sharp and it promises to be a frenzied auction followed by an all out art exchange of creative bartering at the end of the night. This is the annual fundraiser for the nonprofit AC2 gallery.

Cast Glass by Suzanne B. Stern at Matrix
Stern is an internationally exhibited glass and metal artist. She will speak on the history of cast glass, focusing on its revival in 19th century France known as Pate de Verre. She will illustrate the technique’s contemporary use through slides of her work and a demonstration of her process. This presentation is in conjunction with the Garden of the 12th House - Glass and Metal Sculpture by Suzanne B. Stern. Show runs until Dec. 1.

Start Up comes to The Cell
GTA’s Road Theater USA embarks on a hilarious theatrical adventure - or misadventure - as five actors (three German and two from the US), two Austrian video artists and the GTA team go cross-country in a tricked out school bus, traveling from New York to Los Angeles in search of the American Dream and touring the world premiere of Start Up, a black comedy written specifically for GTA by Roland Schimmelpfennig, Germany’s most produced contemporary playwright. One night only performance.

Out of the Ordinary 2007 at N4th This month-long festival features national and international artists working in the visual and performing arts. On Saturday at noon see 000 in Context Saturday’s 10am film is 39 Pounds of Love and at noon will be Unheard Voices, a performance presented by Anne Zollinger, teacher, writer and advocate in the Developmental Disability field. Every Saturday in November from 10-2 there will be food, film and festival speakers - all FREE. Billed as Art with a Point-of-View, the month is full of activity. Rahim AlHaj at the Outpost
Iraqi oud virtuoso Rahim Alhaj celebrates the release of his new CD entitled Home Again on Fast Horse Recordings (titled as such after his post-US invasion visit to his family in Bagdhad). The concert will feature traditional and contemporary Middle Eastern and Arabic music, 9th century Andalusian compositions, and original music arranged for Alhaj’s 10-piece Bagdhad Ensemble - plus a series of duets with very special guests.

Monotype Madness at New Grounds
Trained printers stand read to assist as artists (and anyone who would like to be an artists for a day) become prolific producers of prints. Participants will transfer painted, stamped, stenciled or drawn designs from a plate to paper and create as many unique images as possible. Open to all. Fee $40 plus tax; includes two sheets of paper and all printing materials. Classes at 10am, 1pm and 3:30pm.

Feminist Art Competition and Exhibition
Call for feminist art in all media including digital and video from artists age 18-39 who reside in New Mexico. Works submitted should contain female- centered content or focus on women’s experiences or gender issues. Two winners will receive $500 awards and a solo exhibit at Through the Flower in Belen. Organized by Through the Flower and juried by Judy Chicago.
